Wedding Traditions

Every wedding as its own traditions and rituals.  Some are based on religion, some are based on family history that has been passed down from generation to generation.  With every video package we include video of all the traditional events.  We will also capture the unique traditions that make your wedding your own.

You probably know many traditional events such as:

Lighting the Unity Candle
Cutting the Cake
Breaking of the Glass
Best Man / Maid of Honor Toasts
Bride and Groom First Dance
Bouquet & Garter Toss

You may not know these.  Here are some of the different events and rituals we have seen in our years of producing wedding videos.  Some are religious, some are traditions, and some are just creative ideas from brides and grooms - like you.  Send us some of your ideas and we will add them to this list to share with other couples.

Longest Married Couple - At the reception, all the married couples dance and by process of elimination, the couple married the longest is given a gift and asked to give advice to the new bride and groom.

Trivia Page - A short list of multiple-choice trivia questions is printed and placed on the tables at the reception.   This can be a great conversation starter and later in the reception, the answers are given to the guests.

Light of Remembrance - Special candles are lit before the wedding in memory of one or more family members that have passed away.

Butterflies / Doves - As the couple leaves the wedding site, guests release actual winged signs of love.

Party Themes - Some receptions have included themes beyond the typical wedding version.  For instance, a Hawaiian theme with leis for every guest or a Halloween theme with small masks for the bridal party.

Flowers for the Ladies - At the end of the wedding, the bride and groom give a flower to every woman in attendance.

Candlelight - Instead of carrying flowers, each bridesmaid carries a candle which is placed near the altar during the wedding.

Tell us some of the unique traditions

you have seen or are planning for your wedding.
