16mm Film Conversion FAQs
If you see the sprockets holes on both sides of the film, that is silent film. If you only see the holes on one side, then your film could have optical or magnetic sound.
We will create a file for each of your film reels and name with with your choice of an overall name followed by the reel number. So for example, "Company Films 001". If you number your reels in order, you will have more organized files when complete.
You can also send us an email, listing each reel by number, and the corresponding film title. We will custom name your files at no extra charge. We also offer gathering the information from the notes on reels and cans for the file names. There is an additional charge for this service.
No. Since each reel will be a separate file, the order isn't critical. However, if you add a DVD or Blu-ray Disc, you may want to number the reels as they will appear in that order.
There are two options. You can choose Cloud Storage or USB thumb drive. For Cloud Storage, we will upload your files to a secure location and email you a link so you can share and download them. Cloud Storage is the recommended choice, but you can also get a USB drive with all your files. We also offer DVD and Blu-ray Discs for those who want a disc format, but discs are becoming less common so we do not recommend them.
Yes, we give back all your film reels when your project is complete. We also offer the option to hold your media for 30 days. Many people who ship orders to us like this option to reduce return shipping costs. This allows them to review their conversions and then after 30 days, we will dispose/recycle the film.
Absolutely! Place your order and get packing tips for your film reels. When we receive it, we will give you an estimate and expected completion date. Need it done fast? Let us know your deadline and we'll do whatever we can to meet it.
