Photo Scanning to Digital

Your photo memories are precious and can deteriorate over time. Let Video MVP scan your photos to create digital images. Big, small, or fragile, your photos should be preserved to share with future generations. Personal service with a caring touch.
High Quality , FLATBED, Photo Scanning ... Done In-house!
Why flatbed scan? Flatbed scanning is the safest and most precise way to digitize photos because each image is handled individually rather than pulled through rollers of a page feeder. This eliminates the risk of scratches, creases, or jams—especially important for older, thick, delicate, or Polaroid prints. It also allows for better image quality, capturing more detail, accurate color, and the full photo without distortion.
I have used Video MVP for 20+ years, but particularly in the last 3 for digitizing hundreds of family photos and videos. The quality and pricing is better than other widely available similar products/companies and the communication and customer service is top notch. I will never use any other service for preserving my family's archives. Double bonus is that they're all just nice and friendly people who genuinely care about your media project. In a cynical, profit oriented world, you cannot ask for better customer care.

In-House Digitization
All photo digitization is done here in our office. Whether you have ten or 10,000, your photos are scanned here.
Quality Scans and Resolutions
Photos are FLATBED scanned to get the best quality (no page scanners) and digitized at 600 ppi (higher resolutions available).
Custom File Names
We will name your JPG images based on groups of at least 50. Just place the loose photos in a zippered plastic bag and write a name on the outside (for example, Kevin School Years). Other file formats are also available.

Photo Enhancement Sample
Here is a photo sample that has been improved after digitizing.
You can use the slider to compare the color correction before and after. The level of improvement varies, but in general, the transferred digital image will look better than the original photo.
Excellent job and professional attitude. I was surprised they could improve the image quality of some of these old photos so much. I will use them again for digitizing a bunch of old slides I have from the years I lived overseas.

Photo Scanning to Digital FAQs
Be sure to remove your photos from frames, albums, folders and binders, to avoid handling charges. Photos must be loose, free from tape, and placed in zippered plastic bags. You can put as many as you like in the bag, though there must be at least 50 photos in each group for custom group file naming.
You can also put all your loose photos in a box or bin, then we will give them one overall name like "Williams Family".
Each file will have an overall name and sequence number at the end. For example, "1986-1987_001" or "Kate_001". When a date is available, we will start each group with the year for easy reference like "1985_Reunion_001". Just write the overall name for that group on the outside of the plastic bag. (50+ per group).
Yes. After we can scan the front of the photo, we can immediately scan the back as well. This allows the face and back of the photo to be next to each other in sequence (additional cost). We can also individually name image files based on the information on the back. There is an additional cost for this service so feel free to contact us to discuss your photo project.
Yes. You will need to number each of your photos on the back in the order you want. Start at #1 and go through to the last photo. Use only whole numbers (no A's or B's, no 1.5 or 1.75 to squeeze in extra photos). The file name numbers will match the number on the back so those odd variations won't work. If you have your photos in separate groups, you can start a new #1 for each group (50+ per group). There is an additional charge for scanning photos in order.
Absolutely. We can scan the entire page of your album including all the photos and writing (if there is some). We even have the ability to combine all those pages into one PDF file as well. The cost for scanning can vary based on the size of the album pages, if the pages are removable, and the number of pages.
Yes. Standard photo scanning includes prints up to 8 x 10 inches. However, we can items that are much larger. Check out our page on Large Format Scanning which can include prints, posters, and newspapers.
Yes. Though our normal scan of 600 ppi is a high enough resolution for most purposes, we can scan at even higher resolutions. Note though, that this will make files larger and, depending on the material, you may not gain more detail.
Absolutely! We offer basic and custom slideshows. You can choose either. Our custom slideshows are amazing! We combine your choice of music and video effects to create a memorable video to celebrate any event. Learn more about custom slideshow packages here.
Yes. People often have thousands of family photos. Having other family members pitch in on the digitizing cost can be helpful, but budget can still be a factor. You are welcome to set a photo amount or a dollar amount limit, when we reach that level, we will contact you and let you decide where to go from there. You can also prioritize your photos to digitize the most important ones first and others in future projects.
Of course! Place your order and get packing tips for your photos. When we receive it, we will give you an estimate and expected completion date. Need it done fast? Let us know your deadline and we'll do whatever we can to meet it.
No, sorry, we don't offer photo printing services. Once we've digitized your photos, you can easily have prints made at a local photo shop or through one of the many online photo printing services.
I'm SO glad I found Video MVP! I was looking to help my parents digitize hundreds of old family photos, but didn't want to invest in an expensive photo scanner and spend all the hours doing it myself. I also didn't want to mail those precious photos to an online scanning service and risk them getting lost forever in the mail. Because Video MVP is a local business, I handed off the photos to the owner who was the one to handle and scan them. They have clear pricing and instructions on their website and offer discounts throughout the year. They quoted a ~2 week turnaround time but the photos were ready in just over a week! Highly recommend Video MVP.

I want to thank you for quickly digitizing old family photos for me. The photos you digitized had been lost for many years and we were able to put them on his (father-in-law) large TV screen. He enjoyed sharing details of the family farm with his grandkids. Your extra effort was appreciated more than I can express.
We had some old photos scanned so we could share them with family members who couldn't have the originals. The color correction was so good that I'm glad we did it just for ourselves. This company does great work. Highly recommend!
